Focus Writer
is a lightweight basic text writer, designed to be free of the distractions of complex word processing applications. In fullscreen mode, there are no toolbars of windows, just a background and your text - so it can help people writing who need to concentrate.
Tomboy is a note-taking application. Simple and easy to use, but with potential to help you organize the ideas and information you deal with every day. The key features of Tomboy are highlighting text, inline spelll checking, auto-linking web&email addresses, undo/redo, font styling&sizing, bulleted lists.
GanttProject is a cross-platform desktop tool for project scheduling and management. Create work breakdown structure, draw dependencies, define milestones. Assign human resources to work on tasks, see their allocation on the Resource Load chart. Generate PERT chart from a Gantt chart. Save charts as PNG images, generate PDF and HTML reports.
Boat Scenario is sailing drawing tool. Boat Scenario is your ideal companion for training sessions, rule learning, strategy explanations and more. Boat selection mechanism to edit multiple boats together, and undo/redo options. Wind shifts along the scenario.
FreeDiams is intended for use by medical doctors. It can be used alone to prescribe and / or test drug interactions within a prescription. It can be linked to any application thanks to its command line parameters. Some drugs databases are already available: French, Canadian, USA, South African.

What makes it different is that the new G3 has touchscreen, higher-resolution 1920×1080 pixel screen and more memory: 32 GB of flash and 4 GB of RAM. Mozilla and Japanese carrier KDDI announced the first Firefox OS-based smartphone in Japan – the LG-made Fx0. It has 4.7-inch, 720×1280 pixel screen, 1.5 GB of RAM and runs Firefox OS 2.0. Smartphone was designed by world-famous designer — Tokujin Yoshioka. Casing of the phone is transparent, that makes the phone stand out among other models and look a little bit geeky but stylish.

New Applications on rollApp: Pidgin, Geany, Backgammon, Biogenesis and Freeplane

Pidgin is a chat program which lets you log in to accounts on multiple chat networks simultaneously. This means that you can be chatting with friends on MSN, talking to a friend on Google Talk, and sitting in a Yahoo chat room all at the same time. Pidgin supports many features of these chat networks, such as file transfers, away messages, buddy icons, custom smilies, and typing notifications.
Geany is a fast and lightweight IDE. Geany is a text editor using the GTK2 toolkit with basic features of an integrated development environment. It has a lot of features such as syntax highlighting, code folding, symbol name auto-completion, construct completion/snippets, auto-closing of XML and HTML tags, a lot of supported filetypes, and many other features.
Backgammon an 2D/3D game. It can play, analyse and teach backgammon. Games can be played between human players or between human player and artificial intelligence as well.
Biogenesis is a browser-based microbiology laboratory. It simulates in a visual fashion the processes involved in the evolution of unicellular organisms at nature. It tries to be a didactic approximation to the ideas of mutation or evolution and can be enjoyed also as an entertainment.
Freeplane is an application that supports thinking, sharing information and getting things done at work, in school and at home. The core of the software is tools for mind-mapping (also known as concept mapping or information mapping) and using mapped information.

Weekly News Digest: Drive files in Gmail, Sway updates, Chromebooks review
Google introduces more ways to share Drive files via Gmail. Now you can share Google Drive files through Gmail as attachments instead of links. “By selecting the “Insert as Attachment” option from Drive you’ll be able to attach non-Google files directly to your Gmail message,” – announcement says. This is a welcomed feature, as you no longer would have to worry weather all of the recipients have an access to the attached file and all of them will get a copy of the file even if you delete it from Google Drive.
We already covered Microsoft Sway in one of the digests. The other day Microsoft rolled out more feature improvements for this product. This is an interesting application, but we are still curious how widely the app will be used.
